About Us

The SAARCTrade.info portal is a joint effort of 28 leading Business Membership Organization (BMOs), public sector-trading departments, export promotion agencies and national institutions in the eight SAARC countries collaborating in the frame of the SAARC-Trade Promotion Network (SAARC-TPN), managed by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC), Sri Lanka, and implemented by German International Cooperation (GIZ) with funding from German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The portal aims to provide business information services for importers and exporters including Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to make use of trade opportunities in South Asia. The Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) significantly contribute towards economic capacity of the countries and are crucial for poverty reduction through employment and income opportunities. Most SMEs in the SAARC region only insufficiently utilize their market opportunities as they do not have adequate access to information on market developments, prices, exports and financial possibilities. The range of information offered by service providers in these regions are not attuned to SMEs’ needs always.

The portal supports the agglomeration of business information service providers in the SAARC region. Promotion of the regional network will bring about impulses for regional economic and social integration.

SAARC Trade Information Portal (SAARCTRADE.INFO) strives to bring to South Asian business community, especially SMEs a unique opportunity to access all important trade related information at a mouse click. The portal as intended delivers the referral information to find the right information for each country based on the most useful categories for business decisions identified collectively by importers and exporters and trade support institutions across the region. As a result of this initiative it is expected that the services of the information provider could be improved and SMEs in the region could increasingly utilize the portal's intra-regional network of relevant business information services.
